Yesterday I helped my good friend Amanda move out of her apartment for her journey back to Texas. Most people would consider moving furniture and boxes down 6 flights of stairs a difficult and unpleasant task, however I found that it was actually a very nice workout. I usually exercise on the weekends anyway, so essentially this was a win-win situation – I got my exercise and Amanda got her things moved.

Is there a way we can learn from this? In our situation everything worked out well, however we were not the only people moving furniture and boxes this weekend. Let’s say that in the New York City area this weekend there were 1,000 people moving apartments and that there were 10,000 people who were exercising outdoors. Is there a way we can match these people up so that the exercisers can help the movers? Wouldn’t that be much more efficient for everyone?
