Just a short thought for today.

Over the course of my career I’ve had a lot of successes and a lot of challenges.  There have been reasons for celebration and reasons for reflection.  In both states, learning has always been the focus.

However, I’ve always found it much easier to learn when I fail.  The feedback from failure is immediate and severe.  Failure slaps you in the face and shows you what you did wrong.

It’s sometimes harder to learn when you succeed.  After all, you found success – doesn’t that mean you did everything perfectly?

This is, of course, never the case.

So – here you have it:

My only hope in life is that all of my successes are accompanied by the crushing realization that I have so much more to learn.
