This week I’m on vacation in Maine with my family.  The agenda includes reading, relaxing, waterskiing and sailing – to name a few.  My family has been coming to this same lakeside escape for 53 consecutive years and I’m excited to unplug and unwind for the week.

Looking out at the sun setting over the lake one year I asked my grandfather what he likes most about coming to this spot.  With a sigh he said, “Andrew, all around me the world changes every year, but here – it’s always the same.”

    Andrew,

I’m glad to hear you’re in Maine – one day I’d like to savor the scenery there myself. Just the sight of the sea takes me out of NYC! I heard it’s fantastic, refreshing, and yes, due to all of the above I believe the time should be going slower in Maine and New England generally.

Just as a piece of trivia – Ogunquite (Maine) is the home Frannie Goldsmith – a heroine of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ – one of his most celebrated works.

    Enjoy the vacation!
